Daniel Handley was raised in Delaware. He served for two years as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Phoenix, Arizona, where he worked closely with community leaders to serve low-income populations. After graduating from Brigham Young University with a B.A. in History, he earned his law degree from Penn State Dickinson School of Law. During law school he volunteered with Utah Legal Services, again serving low-income populations. He also interned at an elder law firm, where he focused on preparing powers of attorney and helping victims of elder financial abuse.
